Chef: Duchy of Cornwall Nursery

We are located at the heart of the Duchy estate, and Restormel Castle can be seen from across the valley. With gardens, walks and incredible views…to delicious food, inspirational shopping and a superb range of quality indoor and outdoor plants, the nursery is very much a destination venue for a growing number of visitors. You can find us just off Cott Road outside Lostwithiel.Duchy Nursery food is known for its fast-paced and consistent output, with an informal and family-like kitchen environment with strong staff retention. Our food is highly regarded and where possible we use local, wild and our own produce.

 

The Role

An exciting opportunity to join this busy operation in a stunning locale that includes our Café, Orangery and Woodland Terrace. Food offering can be described as rustic, well-thought out and exacting comfort food, and our bespoke Duchy Grill. General duties include the prep and execution of menus across the business to include breakfast, lunch, baking and events. Reports to: Head of Food/Sous Chefs.

 

The Right Candidate

Strong experience in a busy restaurant environment is essential. The right candidate will be naturally level-headed under pressure, possess the ability to work quickly and work well with others in a busy, yet calm environment. Multiple years experience in good kitchens is essential. Would suit someone that has high personal standards regarding food and is looking for an excellent work/life balance.

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef.
  • Strong knowledge and care of food safety practices.

  • Good culinary skills with a passion for kitchen life.

     

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations.

  • Collaborate with the team to create new offerings for our guests.

     

Details/Reward Package

We are offering £28,250pa for a 42.5hr contract + additional 12% non-contributory pension scheme + tips, 28 days holiday entitlement, Complimentary staff meals and drinks whilst on shift, Staff discounts across all departments, Secure and free parking, Uniform provision and a very wide range of additional benefits. Shifts are typically between 8:00-17:00, 5 out of seven days, but with the very occasional evening events and December late shopping nights. (The Nursery is not generally open during evenings)
