Food & Beverage Assistant
Position
The successful candidate will be part of the Restaurant Front of House team and will be motivated, customer focused, maintaining service excellence in all food service areas whilst contributing through your experience to the ongoing customer growth and professional delivery across the operation.
Main purpose of role
The post reports to the restaurant shift leader and will be based in our F & B sites, the Café, Orangery & Tipi areas.
The role will require you to be multi-skilled in the following areas:-
Bartender:-
You will manage the daily running of the bar dispensing hot and cold drinks and cakes.
Section Holder:
You will take responsibility for a number of designated tables by taking guest orders for both food and drinks and taking payments once the guest is ready to leave.
You will look at every opportunity to upsell when taking an order and once the restaurant runner has cleared.
Runner:-
You will work alongside the restaurant section holder to keep tables cleared as required and once the guests have left ensure the table is re-laid in preparation for the new guest.
Bar Runner:-
You will run hot and cold drinks and cakes from the bar to the required table in the Café.
You will support the bartender to ensure that drinks and cakes are served to the guests in a timely manner.
You will be required to keep the bar area clean, tidy and always organised.
Food Runner:-
You will run food from the kitchen pass to the required table in the Orangery or Café.
During breakfast service you will be required to toast bread and teacakes as per the orders coming through on the checks.
You will be required to polish cutlery after being washed and then distributed amongst the restaurants.
You will be required to keep your area of work clean, tidy and always organised.
You will provide excellent customer service and be proficient in the use of our EPoS systems.
Scope of role
- Proficient in using EPoS and credit card payment systems.
- Ensure a calm, professional, fun and organised level of service, with a smile.
- Ensure you always maintain a safe working environment and work within the Nursery health and safety guidelines and policies.
- Demonstrate exemplary behaviour with a positive attitude and excellent appearance.

- Relevant hospitality experience in a very busy environment.
- Professional, motivated with a can-do attitude.
- Enjoy working as part of a driven, professional, fun team.
- Have a passion for food and drink.
- Have a current understanding of drinks legislation.
- Be naturally customer focused and will always want to provide the highest levels of service.
- Organised, efficient in your working ways and able to plan effectively.
- Have a current driving licence.
You will need to have a strong empathy with the objectives of the Duchy of Cornwall and the implementation of the Duchy’s policies.
Reward Package
- Hours will be worked 5 days out of 7 which will include weekend working. Although primarily daytime hours, there will be the need for occasional evening working for events and suppers.
