Cream Tea & Craft: Yarn & Create with Caroline from Gorgeous Yarns
Join Lilyboo Lostwithiel for their popular yarn and create afternoons.
"We are delighted to have the talented Caroline from Gorgeous Yarns. Caroline explains that ‘ I set up Gorgeous Yarns in 2014 and initially intended to be an online yarn show. I went to a natural dye workshop with my great yarnie friend Steph of Perran Yarns and I was completely hooked! I loved the range of colours that were possible from plants, that I could grow some in my own garden, forage for others and source dyes from all over the world. I also believe in the sustainability and eco-credentials of natural dyeing, especially onto British wool and I try to be sustainable in all my practices. I have written a book, The Natural Dyer’s Almanac which is like a beginner’s workbook of natural dyeing though the course of a year. In the summer (2025) I completed my Guild Certificate of Achievement as a natural dyer with a Distinction’.
Caroline will be joining us to speak to the group for an hour, which will include a fun quiz with dye plant samples, explanation of what dyes and mordants are, why some are colourfast and some aren’t and how to create a basic dye bath to dye yarn. She will also bring my handmade dye samples book if you’d like to see it".
Cream tea will be included in the workshop price.
