The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery are looking for a full time Restaurant Supervisor to join their friendly and professional front of house team.

The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate which funds the public, charitable and private activities of The Prince of Wales and his family. The Duchy consists of around 53,154 hectares of land in 24 counties, mostly in the South West of England.

The Duchy estate was created in 1337 by Edward III for his son and heir, Prince Edward, and its primary function was to provide him and future Princes of Wales with an income from its assets. A charter ruled that each future Duke of Cornwall would be the eldest surviving son of the Monarch and the heir to the throne.

The current Duke of Cornwall, HRH The Prince of Wales, is actively involved in running the Duchy and his philosophy is to improve the estate and pass it on to future Dukes in a stronger and better condition

The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery is a small part of the Duchy, but it is proud of its heritage. The Nursery is located at the heart of the Duchy estate and Restormel Castle can be seen from across the valley. With gardens, walks and incredible views to delicious food, inspirational shopping and a superb range of quality indoor and outdoor plants, the nursery is very much a destination venue for over 100,000 visitors annually

The role

  • To act as Restaurant duty manager when on the floor, the day to day running of the shift, inspiring the team to follow your lead
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness & organisation, promoting a safe and healthy workplace
  • Key holder - To be responsible for closing the entire site on occasions
  • Ensure excellent product knowledge & customer service skills
  • Help to train and develop, manage & motivate the team
  • Hold pre/ post service briefings as and when appropriate and make sure the team are fully briefed on any special dishes, events, afternoon tea & missing items
  • Delegate tasks when needed to ensure all openings, closings and cleaning jobs are done daily
  • Complete opening & closing cash-ups
  • Take ownership of daily ordering of café drinks, disposables and source new equipment when needed
  • Be part of the interview and trials of new applicants
  • Work with the managers to set weekly / monthly goals
  • Ensure the team know about any changes with menu or business so all are well informed
  • To be well informed on all aspects of the business to pass onto the team
  • To instigate staff training
  • Confident in Epos, Excel and Microsoft programmes to complete regular administration duties
  • Deal with any potential guest issues / complaints as soon as they arise
  • Amend and update menus as and when needed
  • Attend weekly site managers meetings when needed
  • Demonstrate exemplary behaviour with a positive attitude and excellent appearance
  • Direct reports being the café team of approx. 15 plus team leaders
  • Reporting to the restaurant assistant managers

Working hours and Reward package

8.30am to 5pm over 5 days out 7 which will include some weekend working. Occasional evening working for events may be necessary

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £22,500.00 per year
