Buddleja davidii 'Royal Red'
Butterfly Bush. Deciduous shrub. Large panicles of red-purple flowers in summer. One of the best plants for attracting butterflies. Best pruned hard in March. Any soil, especially chalk. Best in full sun. Suitable for coast. Height 2-2½m.
The RHS AGM award was reconfirmed in 2010 (from 1993) after their trials. It was described as having the best red colour of the older cultivars.
