The Transformation

The Transformation

The first stage of the project to transform the facilities and site of the Nursery is now complete and has been designed to sit well within the local landscape incorporating the Prince of Wales’ environmental vision.

Offering spectacular views of Restormel Castle and the Fowey Valley, the new distinctive timber-framed, stone and cob building, constructed using local skills and natural materials, houses a shop and café. The retail plant areas have also been overhauled and a new entrance, car park and greenhouse created.

Heating of the new greenhouse and retail areas will be managed through a wood pellet boiler reducing emissions and increasing fuel efficiency. The new buildings also incorporate key features such as rain water harvesting and sheep’s wool insulation.

The Nursery is due to launch a horticultural themed events programme with staff sharing their knowledge and expertise with garden clubs, young people and local community groups.
