Spring is a great time of year for the gardener.
Everything is waking up and starting into growth. The colour
comes back, in flowers and new leaves. The brightest season of
the year emerges from the dullest, sometimes almost overnight.
In Cornwall the big transition is camellias
giving way to Magnolias then to Rhododendrons. The lanes are
decked out with Primroses, which yield to Bluebells.
Herbaceous Perennials really come into their own
in summer but many get under way with extraordinary speed in the
spring.
A great many trees and shrubs contribute to the
bright spring picture, the Cherry blossom, Crab Apples and
Hawthorns; Forsythias, Azaleas, Brooms, Deutzias and Lilacs.
The nursery is crammed full of terrific plants;
planting conditions are perfect; what are you waiting for? |
